cPanel and Plesk license price rises are on the way, again

It's that time of year where we begrudgingly announce cPanel and Plesk license price rises.

Date

Prices for cPanel and Plesk licenses are set to increase, thanks to WebPros once again increasing the license costs.

This isn’t a big surprise to us. It’s far from the first time we’ve brought you news like this about cPanel and Plesk prices.

WebPros cranked up their licensing costs last year, the year before that, the year before that, and so on, all the way back to 2019.

We’re sorry to pass on the new prices, but when licensing costs go up we don't have much choice.

New cPanel, Plesk and CloudLinux prices for 2027

For cPanel, Plesk, and Cloud Linux servers, the new license prices will take effect on January 1, 2027.

Depending on your cPanel product, license prices are increasing by 10.5-25%.

Plesk has fewer license tiers to look through, but its prices have been raised just as consistently. Plesk Web Host Edition for VPS is getting the biggest price hike this time, making it more than twice as expensive as it was just three years ago.

When we issue CloudLinux licenses, they usually come bundled with either cPanel or Plesk. It's worth knowing that the price of that license will go up by two dollars to $41.

Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) for out-of-date Linux distros, like CentOS, was previously $50 and will now become $70. WebPros made it clear that price hikes for supporting older distros would be a regular occurrence back when they announced ELS. If you still don’t have a plan to move off your outdated distro, it’s definitely time to start weighing up your options.

Market powers at play

WebPros, owners of cPanel and Plesk, is run by a money hungry venture capital fund. Back in August 2019 we said: “when a Private Equity firm gets involved in a business, some changes can be expected one way or another." Every year since this has become increasingly true.

You best believe they plan to keep testing their market power. They know that cPanel and Plesk are popular because they’re hard to replace. WebPros have the upper hand.

Since 2019, they’ve been relying on users like you choosing to keep paying higher prices rather than leave their products behind. There’s nothing to indicate that they’ll be changing their pricing strategy any time soon.

Cloud Containers could be your way out

Since you’re already a SiteHost customer, there may be an easy way out.

Cloud Containers is our most popular hosting platform, and is designed to be flexible and easy-to-use. It's built on open-source foundations, so it's entirely free of any software licenses.

Whether you want to escape the WebPros stranglehold now or plan for a move later, we’re always ready to talk with you about your options.
