Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who are VPSs a good fit for?

The power and configurability of a VPS server is best suited to a team with an experienced sysadmin on board, and when their particular use case requires root or administrator access. We have a number of plans to cover almost every size project but a VPS is not suited to customers unfamiliar with server administration and management.

  • Do I need server management?

We highly recommend opting for Server Management if your server will be hosting critical applications or websites where uptime is important. Problems arise, downtime happens. You should consider who would respond at 3am if there's an urgent problem, especially if you don't have your own dedicated system engineers.

  • Do you offer a free trial?

Yes. If you're not happy with your hosting simply cancel it within 7 days and you won't be charged. Do note however that we require a credit card to be associated with accounts on sign up.

  • Do you have a Service Level Agreement?

We have an uptime guarantee of 99.9% across our Cloud Container, VPS and VDS platforms. We also offer comprehensive SLAs as part of our Managed Hosting. You can read more about our uptime guarantee and getting a full SLA in our knowledge base.

  • What is NVMe storage?

NVMe (non-volatile memory express) is a faster form of data storage. We offer NVMe as standard because we don't think anyone should be slowed down by their hard drive. Technically, NVMe is the transfer protocol for accessing data quickly from a solid-state drives (SSD).

Why host on Virtual Private Servers?

A VPS provides you with your very own independent virtualised server. This allows you to have complete control over the configuration of your system. If you want raw resources and the flexibility to do what you want with them it might be just the thing for you.

Hosting on a SiteHost Linux VPS means you know your website will have full resources allocated to it at all times and you can scale up resources easily to handle whatever you throw at it. Have the freedom of root access or let our expert engineers take the hassle off your hand with our Managed Services.
