We think of it as the perfect mix between high performance dedicated resources and cost-effective virtualised servers.

Is this the right solution for me or my project?

The VDS product is one of our most popular for good reason: the dedicated resources are ideal for customers with higher storage and memory requirements and suit most large applications. Due to the virtualised nature of the product if your specific requirements include data sovereignty or other privacy concerns our Dedicated Servers might be a better choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need server management?

    We highly recommend opting for Server Management if your server will be hosting critical applications or websites where uptime is important. Problems arise, downtime happens. You should consider who would respond at 3AM if there's an urgent problem, especially if you don't have your own dedicated system engineers.

  • Can I upgrade my server during my contract?

    This is something we discuss on case by case basis with each customer, but as a general rule of thumb if you are upgrading to a larger server with increased spend there's no penalty for exiting the contract early. You would however be required to sign a new contract with a new term.

  • What is SSD Storage?

    This is a type of hard drive that is many times faster than old traditional spinning storage. What it means for you is that you get faster, more reliable storage that won't be a bottleneck for your website or application.

  • Do you have a Service Level Agreement?

    We have an uptime guarantee of 99.9% across our Cloud Container, VPS and VDS platforms. We also offer comprehensive SLAs as part of our Managed Hosting. You can read more about our uptime guarantee and getting a full SLA in our knowledge base.

  • What are the major differences between VPS, VDS and Dedicated?

    Each of these products have their own strengths and weaknesses and your unique requirements will decide which is the best fit.

    A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is the lowest cost offering, has no contract term and can easily be scaled up or down as required. Resources can be limited however and may be shared between other VPSes on the same server.

    A Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) on the other hand has a mix of dedicated and shared hardware. This means you get a huge amount of resources without having to pay for all the hardware and associated costs yourself.

    Finally there are Dedicated Servers. These offer the most power as you have the whole server to yourself at all times. This can make them more expensive and less fault tolerant than virtual offerings.
