Bare Metal Performance at Virtualised Prices

A Virtual Server (VPS) has the lowest cost and is the only option with no contract term. They offer fewer resources, some of which are shared between multiple VPSs. A Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) costs more, because you get more. It has dedicated resources and hardware (like drives) while still being virtualised. This means you get a huge amount of resources without having to pay for all the hardware and associated costs yourself. Finally there are Dedicated Servers which are entire machines for your exclusive use. These offer the most power and are the only option that gives you a whole physical server to yourself. This can make them more expensive and less fault tolerant than virtual offerings.

This is something we discuss on case by case basis with each customer, but as a general rule of thumb if you are upgrading to a larger server with increased spend there's no penalty for exiting the contract early. You would however be required to sign a new contract with a new term.

SSD (solid state disk) is a type of hard drive that is many times faster than old traditional spinning storage (HDD, or hard disk drive). SSD gives you faster, more reliable storage that won't be a bottleneck for your website or application. HDD remains cheaper, though, so it can be the better way to provision large amounts of storage.

24/7 Management is a highly recommended optional extra, especially if your server will be hosting critical applications or websites where uptime is important. Problems arise, downtime happens, and you always have something else to be doing rather than worrying about infrastructure.
