New
  • Handy tool for importing DNS records

When you're managing DNS zones for any domain that has been hosted elsewhere, a handy little 'Import' button will search for A, CNAME, TXT, and MX records to automatically add for you. This gives you a handy a headstart on your data entry, but please check what does (and doesn't) come through. The blog has more, including the tool's limitations.

Fixed
  • Non-alpha characters in credit cardholder names

After switching payment gateways we accidentally stopped accepting non-alphabetical characters in cardholder names. That's fixed up now.

  • On the largest plan? We've stopped showing you impossible upgrades

Almost any SiteHost customer can easily add more storage or RAM, but not if you're already on the largest possible plan (like a 12 core, 32GB Cloud Container server; or a 30 core, 120GB High Performance Linux VM). So those of you who are fully maxed out will no longer see the standard upgrade options. (If you're looking for an extra boost to standard Cloud Containers or VMs, High Performance plans are your friend).

Improved
  • Change of payment gateway

From today, all credit card payments will be handled by a new payment gateway. We switched because our previous gateway was about to impose some unwanted changes. Almost every credit card was securely migrated and will continue working as usual, but a small number of customers will need to re-enter their card details. Sorry for the hassle.

Improved
  • Knowledge Base search just got a lot more accurate

The Knowledge Base search bar hasn't always been great at returning the page that you're looking for, so we've replaced its brain. A new, internally trained, private AI-powered semantic search mechanism is now at your service. We've already road-tested on our internal documentation system, so we know you're in good hands.

Improved
  • Easy-to-find module for storing and managing custom SSL certificates

There is a new SSL Certificates module in the Control Panel menu. While Cloud Containers' automatic SSL certificate feature is enough for most of you, there are times when custom certificates are still the way to go. So we've made it easier to import them into the Control Panel for easy management. You can also order new certificates, then download and deploy them any time. Read more in the blog and Knowledge Base.

Improved
  • 'Premium' Domains tagged and priced correctly in Control Panel

Some TLDs like .biz and .co apply premium (i.e. higher) pricing to selected domains. Premium domains are now tagged in the Control Panel, and you'll see their actual prices rather than the standard price for that TLD. There’s more about registering and managing Premium Domains in the Knowledge Base and a general explainer on the blog.

Improved
  • Domain management made a little easier

We've made some improvements to the Domains area of the Control Panel. Look in a domain's "Name Servers" tab to see all DNS Zones which match the domain. We also added the domain history to every page so you don't have to go hunting for it, and some other small tweaks. Small improvements add up!

New
  • Managed servers get a big metrics upgrade

In June we rolled out a brand new metrics interface for Cloud Containers, and now the same upgrade has reached all managed servers. Dedicated Servers, Virtual Servers, High Performance VMs - if they're managed by us, you can now see a lot more data about server load, CPU usage, RAM usage, database disk usage and more. Once the data is collected, you'll be able to select periods from 5 minutes to a year. The Knowledge Base explains how to find and filter your data.

New
  • Domain expiry emails: How many warnings would you like?

Some people appreciate a lot of notice before their domains expire, while others would rather not have quite so many reminders fill up their inbox. So warnings when there are 1, 15, and 60 days to go are all now optional. If you auto-renew domains, another new setting lets you decide whether to receive an email 7 days beforehand. Find all of this under Account > Preferences, and read more in the Knowledge Base.

New
  • Private VLANs on High Performance Virtual Servers

You can now easily request a Private VLAN if you have High Performance Virtual Servers, and manage VLANs by adding and removing servers in the Control Panel.
