Cloud Container Images: Upgrading From Ubuntu Focal to Jammy Jellyfish

/ Cloud Containers
Ubuntu Jammy is the latest LTS release. See how to schedule maintenance for managed Cloud Container servers or update your own unmanaged servers.

We are excited to announce that we are only a few days away from updating our Cloud Container images from Ubuntu Focal 20.04 to Ubuntu Jammy 22.04. This upgrade brings numerous benefits and enhancements, and we are eager to roll it out to all our managed customers.

Our rollout plan will begin this week with containers on our Apache + PHP 8.2 image, which has undergone thorough testing and is deemed production-ready. Our objective is to gradually extend this upgrade to all other images in the subsequent weeks.

Managed customers don’t need to lift a finger

We have carefully planned a seamless update process for all our managed servers. Our expert team will handle the upgrade for you, minimising any potential disruption to your operations. We understand the importance of maintaining uninterrupted service, so you can choose when this maintenance will happen. Open your server’s Settings, and under "Container Maintenance Schedule" select a day and time. We’ll take care of the rest.

For unmanaged servers, we recommend manually updating your containers to Ubuntu Jammy from the SiteHost Control Panel. This will allow you to take advantage of the latest improvements and enhancements. There’s a comprehensive guide to updating the image in our Knowledge Base. If you experience any issues during the process, our support team is available to help.
