-----

We're pleased to announce that Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is now available as an OS option for our VPS and VDS products. The latest from the Ubuntu team, 20.04 (codenamed "Focal Fossa") is a Long Term Service (LTS) release meaning it will be supported for at least 5 years, up to April 2025. Canonical - the company behind the Ubuntu distribution - estimates that 95% of Ubuntu installs are LTS releases and consider the LTS releases as "enterprise-grade".

Among many other changes, Ubuntu 20.04 ships with the Linux 5.4 kernel as well as a new compression method for this kernel. Supporting this compression meant some changes for compatibility with our infrastructure and unfortunately this delayed our release of 20.04. However, the release has now gone through our testing process and is ready for you to dive in! The changes we made are noted in the MOTD when you first log into your server via SSH.

Because Focal Fossa is less than a month old there may still be some third party products that aren't fully caught up and compatible. Do let us know how you get on with it and if you have any questions.
