We've become auDA accredited, meaning we can register .au domains for you without having to go through a reseller. Any .au domains registered by us before the end of 2025 will now show Webslice as the registrar. Read about our auDA accreditation in the blog.
In your list of server backups, a new option to 'Clone' each backup has appeared. As the name suggests, this creates a new server based on the backup that you select. Handy if you want to retrieve old files without overwriting the live server, or as a "most of the way there" starting point for a new server. Read about Server Cloning in the KB.
We’ve improved the dropdown field to select contacts when editing a domain. It’s now a full text search field that loads gradually, making it faster and easier to find contacts, even if you have hundreds or thousands on your account. This change should make managing your domain contacts much smoother.
When you create your own server backups via the Control Panel you can add notes and set an expiry date. Manual and automated backups are listed together, each with the option to Restore. There's more in the KB.
When you're managing DNS zones for any domain that has been hosted elsewhere, a handy little 'Import' button will search for A, CNAME, TXT, and MX records to automatically add for you. This gives you a handy a headstart on your data entry, but please check what does (and doesn't) come through. The blog has more, including the tool's limitations.
Virtual servers now offer access to the Control Panel's 'Firewall' module and, with that, the ability to restrict network traffic using two systems that you can read about in the Knowledge Base: Security Groups and Server Firewalls.
Some TLDs like .biz and .co apply premium (i.e. higher) pricing to selected domains. Premium domains are now tagged in the Control Panel, and you'll see their actual prices rather than the standard price for that TLD. There’s more about registering and managing Premium Domains in the Knowledge Base and a general explainer on the blog.
We've made some improvements to the Domains area of the Control Panel. Look in a domain's "Name Servers" tab to see all DNS Zones which match the domain. We also added the domain history to every page so you don't have to go hunting for it, and some other small tweaks. Small improvements add up!
In June we rolled out a brand new metrics interface for Cloud Containers, and now the same upgrade has reached all managed servers. Dedicated Servers, Virtual Servers, High Performance VMs - if they're managed by us, you can now see a lot more data about server load, CPU usage, RAM usage, database disk usage and more. Once the data is collected, you'll be able to select periods from 5 minutes to a year. The Knowledge Base explains how to find and filter your data.
Some people appreciate a lot of notice before their domains expire, while others would rather not have quite so many reminders fill up their inbox. So warnings when there are 1, 15, and 60 days to go are all now optional. If you auto-renew domains, another new setting lets you decide whether to receive an email 7 days beforehand. Find all of this under Account > Preferences, and read more in the Knowledge Base.
You can now easily request a Private VLAN if you have High Performance Virtual Servers, and manage VLANs by adding and removing servers in the Control Panel.
