Qwen3.8-27B has superseded Qwen 3.6-27B as a same-model-family replacement on our AI Platform. Extensive validation tests showed improved performance across the board, as well as reduced token usage. Like every model we make available, we're hosting it in New Zealand, on our own servers, with zero data retention. Read more about using our AI Platform in the Knowledge Base.
Anyone with Managed Cloud Containers can now enable or disable Traffic Protection for individual Containers. You can find the Traffic Protection toggle on the Containers Settings screen in the Control Panel. Traffic Protection can also be toggled on/off at a server level. By default, Traffic Protection is on. As always, you can add Server Management today. Read more about our Traffic Protection work on the blog.
Perfect for development or test environments, or for running small projects away from your production environment, you can now stand up a Development Virtual Server for only $7.50 a month. They're not production-ready though, so read all about Development Virtual Servers before you get started.
The 'Add Service' screen was looking overloaded even before we added a new category of Virtual Servers today. This, plus a limitation that stopped the AI Platform from appearing, made it time for a redesign. Now you'll see more options, sensibly grouped and presented in a more comfortable display.
We've reworked the Databases tab in the Containers page of the Control Panel to provide more context and Container-focused options. You can now filter by where the databases back up to and get the database hostname on the page.
We've launched our AI Platform. You can now access fast, private and cost-effective open-weight AI models hosted here in New Zealand. Offload your data workload without any data retention. Check out the Knowledge Base to learn how it works.
We've added a quick way to visualise your Cloud Container server's disk allocation in the Control Panel. Disk Usage Breakdown shows how much of your server disk space is used by files, docker images and databases.
Another boost to the Control Panel's performance, as well as security improvements and plenty of bug fixes.
We've made some tweaks to improve the ABN/ACN validation process since we became an auDA accredited registrar, making .au domain registrations more painless.
Ubuntu's latest long-term support release, Resolute Raccoon, can now be provisioned on any new Linux Virtual Server or Virtual Dedicated Server. There's more about this distro in the blog.
We've enforced two-factor authentication on all accounts. If 2FA wasn't already enabled, you'll now be emailed a login confirmation code. Once you’re logged in you can upgrade to using an authenticator app instead. Account admins can control authentication frequency (from every login to monthly). See how to manage 2FA in the Knowledge Base, and read why we’ve made this change in the blog (TL;DR: too much phishing).
